School-Based Therapy Services

River Valley Counseling Center partners with local school districts to provide mental health counseling during the school day. The program provides families with access to therapy by removing barriers such as long waitlists, transportation, insurance coverage problems, and scheduling conflicts.

RVCC therapists provide individual sessions and family consultations for referred students who are experiencing a range of difficulties including:

  • anxiety
  • sadness
  • adjustment problems
  • emotion regulation difficulties
  • trauma
  • disruptive behavior
  • inattention and hyperactivity
  • failing grades
  • social problems
  • bullying
  • attachment problems
  • self-harm
  • substance use

Our therapists are also able to support school-specific emotional and behavioral needs, consulting with teachers and administrators on site.

River Valley Counseling Center provides outpatient mental health therapy to students within the following school districts: Chicopee, Easthampton, Hatfield, and Holyoke, as well as select schools in Springfield, East Longmeadow, Granby, and Hadley.

How to enroll your child in school-based therapy:

If your child attends a school in one of the districts listed above, please contact a school counselor, school nurse, or administrator at your child's school. They will confirm the service is available and complete the referral form with you.

If you would like to obtain therapy for a child that does not attend a school offering our services, please call our Central Intake Department to request a therapist at one of our clinic locations (Holyoke, Chicopee, Springfield, or Easthampton). RVCC Central Intake can be reached at (413)540-1234.

If you are a school that is interested in partnering with RVCC for school-based therapy services, please contact the Director of School-Based Clinical Services, Alexa Mignano, LMHC at (413)540-1189.
